The sole human member of the cathelicidin family. Exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity via membrane disruption of bacteria, fungi, and enveloped viruses; additionally chemotactic for neutrophils, monocytes, and T-cells, and modulates innate immune and wound-healing responses.
