Dihexa (PNB-0408; N-hexanoic-Tyr-Ile-(6)-aminohexanoic amide) is an orally-bioavailable hexapeptide analog of angiotensin IV developed at Washington State University. It potentiates hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) activity at the c-Met receptor to stimulate synaptogenesis, with preclinical reports of potency several orders of magnitude greater than BDNF at promoting new synapse formation. Investigated as a candidate for Alzheimer's disease and age-related cognitive decline; no human clinical data published to date.
