A synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, CAS 129954-34-3) derived from the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) by C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension for protease resistance. Acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the GABA-A receptor and also inhibits enkephalin-degrading enzymes, producing anxiolytic effects with claims of efficacy comparable to benzodiazepines but without sedation, tolerance, or dependence. Developed by the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Molecular Genetics and the Zakusov Research Institute of Pharmacology. Not FDA-approved.
