An 11-amino-acid amidated peptide (Pro-Pro-Glu-Ala-Pro-Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg-Ser-Leu-NH2) cleaved from the proregion of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF). Studied as a GDNF-like neurotrophic candidate in preclinical 6-OHDA and MPTP Parkinson's disease models, showing dopaminergic neuron protection and preservation of striatal dopamine. Developed at the University of Kentucky; preclinical-stage candidate.
