A synthetic N-acetylated hexapeptide (Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-NH2, CAS 616204-22-9) marketed under the INCI name Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 and the brand Argireline by Lipotec. Mimics the N-terminal fragment of SNAP-25, competing for assembly of the SNARE complex that presynaptic neurons use to release acetylcholine — recapitulating botulinum toxin's mechanism in a topically applied molecule. Used in anti-expression-line cosmetic formulations; cutaneous penetration is limited and effects are modest compared with injected neurotoxins. Not a drug.
