MGF (Mechano Growth Factor)

A synthetic peptide corresponding to the E-domain C-terminal tail of IGF-1Ec, an alternative splice variant of insulin-like growth factor-1 (CAS 12020-86-9). Upregulated in skeletal muscle in response to mechanical load or damage; thought to activate muscle satellite cells independent of the IGF-1 receptor via an as-yet-uncharacterized pathway. Studied in preclinical muscle-regeneration and cardiac-repair models. Native form is rapidly degraded in serum (t1/2 ~5 min), motivating the pegylated variant.
