A synthetic decapeptide (pGlu-His-Trp-Ser-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Arg-Pro-Gly-NH2, CAS 33515-09-2) identical to the endogenous gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH / LHRH). Agonizes the pituitary GnRH receptor to drive pulsatile LH and FSH release. Originally FDA-approved for human use as Factrel and LutrePulse (diagnostic for hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, and pulsatile therapy for ovulation induction); human formulations have since been discontinued, though compounded versions remain available through 503A/503B pharmacies. Veterinary formulations remain FDA-approved for cattle.
