A 344-residue isoform of follistatin (CAS 100043-71-8), a glycoprotein that binds and neutralizes activin A and myostatin (GDF-8) at high affinity. Blockade of myostatin disinhibits muscle protein synthesis and drives skeletal muscle hypertrophy. Studied preclinically and in a small AAV-delivered gene-therapy trial for Becker muscular dystrophy. No recombinant-protein formulation has been evaluated in registration trials; not FDA-approved.
